Tigercon 2009 tomorrow – full schedule, tournament details, and more!

Tigercon 2009 is now just hours away. There will be several rooms with all different types of events happening. The full schedule of events can be found on the official Tigercon website, tigercon.org. As you may know, Tigercon is considered an “Anime and Gaming Convention.” For those of you who want to focus on the gaming, we’ve highlighted the key game-related events below.

Game Tournaments

For the hardcore gamers out there, the tournaments are what you live for at these conventions. The crew of MAGFest, an annual music and gaming festival, will be hosting game tournaments at Tigercon. The confirmed games include:

  • Super Smash Bros. Melee (Gamecube)
  • Super Smash Bros. Brawl (Wii)
  • BlazBlue (PS3)
  • Street Fighter 4 (PS3)

The following is an official statement to BaltimoreGamer from the MAGFest crew:

We heard that from Carrie and Tyler that they were looking for help finding game systems and TV’s, so we volunteered our crew to jump in and help out wherever needed for running their game room and tournaments. Tigercon last year was a blast and one of my favorite anime cons despite it’s relative newness. The vibe was good and there was a ton going on for a first-year convention. We wanted to support these guys in whatever way possible. Magfest’s mission is to support music and gamers, so this is right in line for us.

Game Music

Rare Candy will be performing live game music at 4:00pm in the concert hall. The band plays rock/electronic interpretations of famous game music such as Pokemon: Trainer Battle and The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past: Dark World Theme. You can check out their music on their Myspace page.

The famous OverClocked ReMix will also be in attendance, with a 9:00pm slot in the Potomac room. OverClocked ReMix is a non-profit organization dedicated to creating new arrangements of game music. You can visit their website at ocremix.org.

Us!

We aren’t an “event” per se, but the full BaltimoreGamer crew will be in attendance at Tigercon tomorrow. We’ll be taking plenty of photos and videos to post on the site. We unfortunately won’t get our official BaltimoreGamer t-shirts for a couple more weeks, but we should have some logo-adorning paraphernalia like fliers with us so keep an eye out!
