New Site!

We at BaltimoreGamer are proud to announce the brand new version of the site. We have made the transition from using Drupal to using Wordpress as our new content management system. We feel that Wordpress will be a better fit for the site, and allow us to better serve the readers.

Switching to Wordpress is allowing us to use a much wider library of plugins to add functionality to our site.  We have a couple plugins that help us fight spam far more effectively than we could before.

Things will work a bit differently on the new site.  You can still log in from any page, but user profiles will be handled through the forum.  Widgets and links to post stories to social networking and bookmarking sites are located at the end of each story, instead of in the sidebar.  Remember that you need to click title or “read more” link to go to the page for a story, as sharing cannot be done from the homepage. The pages and categories are separated into two navbars, and the categories bar will have dropdowns for sub-categories. The categories bar may look a bit empty right now, but this is because categories with no articles in them do not display. We’ll also be tagging our articles for their content, and the populat tags will show up in a nifty “tag cloud” in the sidebar.

Since we have moved to a new content management system, the old content does not carry over  If you were a registered member of the old site, you will need to re-register and fill out your profile again.  We are sorry for this inconvenience.  We have posted and backdated some of the significant stories from the old site.  We will be adding some more of these articles for archival purposes.  They will also be backdated, so they will not show up on top of the feed when we add them.

We hope to bring you a lot of new types of content and broadening our range. We will have videos, interviews, and humor articles to name a few. We’re also bringing in some additional writers.
