Ask 26,000 people what they are most excited about with Otakon 2010 just around the corner, and you’ll receive 26,000 different answers. As one of the largest Anime, video game, and Asian pop-culture conventions held in the United States, it’s no wonder that fans are squirming in their seats in anticipation for the July 30th.
The best part of Otakon is that there is something for everyone. Are you the world’s biggest fan of cosplay? Maybe your mistress is gaming. Perhaps you have too much money, and you just need to spend it on some scantily clad Anime babes. Even people watchers have a field day during Otakon weekend – where else can you see grown men play-fighting with swords and armor made of soda boxes?
There are several events of note that are sure to make Otakon 2010 a year to remember! H. Naoto will be showing a line of Gothic Lolita and Punk fashion in Otakon 2010’s Fashion Show! For all those fans of lace and little top hats, this is a must see event! Of course it’s a great year for music with Otaku Idol to attend, and the Yoshida Brothers and Home Made Kazoku performing.
There is no doubt that Otakon will deliver a fantastic video gaming experience this year with tournaments in Tekken, Mario Kart, DDR, and Guilty Gear among others. But the tournaments are only the cherry on top of the hot fudge sundae that is the gaming room at Otakon – if you have never experienced it, just picture rows and rows of televisions with some of your old favorites, new favorites, and anything in between! It truly is a sight to behold.
With just a month left until the convention, now is the time to get batteries for your creepy fanboy cameras, stitch those final details onto your cosplays, and hone the skills you need to kick butt in the video game tournaments!
