Games Workshop’s “North American Games Day 2010” to be held in Baltimore

From Games Workshop, the company that brought you tabletop fun like Warhammer, Warhammer 40,000 and more, comes “Games Day”, an event held by the company sometimes as many as 5 times a year.  For this year’s premier production, The North American Games Day of 2010, the organization picked Baltimore, MD.

Happening at the Baltimore Convention Center this Saturday, Games Day gives Games Workshop game enthusiasts a chance to meet up, play some rounds of their favorite classics and is, as Games Workshop describes it on the event’s website, “a celebration of the Games Workshop hobby.”

According to the company press release for the shindig, these games originated over 30 years ago in England, when players used handmade wooden models. Now Games Workshop sells its tabletop fantasy and futuristic battle games worldwide through a franchise of over 340 shops and online and catalogue sales combined with sales made through 3,700+ independent toy and hobby shops all over the globe.

“We are keeping a lot of the time honored traditional bits, and improving other areas based on customer feedback, along with adding new interactive features,” said Ed Spettigue,  North American Sales and Promotions Director when speaking of the coming show. Having been with Games Workshop for 20 years now, he added, “The consolidation to one annual ‘Games Day’ has given us the targeted focus and resources to really explore the undone and give attendees the experience they are looking for.”

Ticket sales for the event are held online only, are limited, and are $25 USD per ticket ($28 CA). Taking place this Saturday, August 21, 2010, the festivities will start at 10 a.m. and continue to 6 p.m. EST. Attendees can purchase a Limited Edition Games Day model at the event which are limited to one per paid ticket holder.
