CCBC Essex Game Club LAN Party

CCBC_LAN

Last night I joined CCBC Essex Game Development club for some LAN party fun. Hosted on campus, on Friday October 15th from 6-10pm the group of guys and girls played Unreal Tournament. I played with a classroom full of people, 25 plus students and gamers from CCBC and some joining from the University of Baltimore. The night was full of a lot of trash talk, gloating, and killing sprees that made it worth coming out to join the party.

Playing match after match it was clear that Mr. JJ Chandler a Professor at CCBC had too much skill topping the leader boards multiple times with his character “Heroic_Effort”. My character “DownLoaded_Skill” fared pretty well for a guy who has only played the game once before, well that’s my excuse anyway. After about two hours of shooting rockets and sniper-shots everyone moved about two rooms down to eat food and get some drinks.

This also was where all the latest game club related announcements are made. There were three updates of note, I talked about a big project currently in the works with a client developing a game that if anyone wanted to volunteer and help work on a project that is going to be published. Second John Rappazzo from University of Baltimore game club, let everyone know about the upcoming GameJam, an event that lets anyone put together a team to see who can create the best game in 48 hours. Last was another UB student trying to get more help on his own project to develop a game for the Xbox 360 using a 3D engine.

After all the small talk and empty pizza boxes it was time to head back to the game room for more explosions. CCBC Game club LAN parties are open for anyone to join the fun, so next time I hope to see you there. You can find all the gamers in J building room 204 from 6-10pm every 3rd Friday of each month. Make sure to bring your ‘A’ game and remember to have fun.

We have posted a Picasa album for the event:
